American Strategic Insurance, commonly abbreviated ASI, is a property insurance carrier operating within the Progressive group of insurance companies. Founded in 1997, it grew into one of the largest homeowners insurance writers in the United States before Progressive completed its acquisition of parent company ARX Holding. The company underwrites property lines including homeowners, condo, and renters insurance, covering dwelling, personal property, loss of use, personal liability, and medical payments. It distributes primarily through independent agents, who can bundle ASI property policies with Progressive auto coverage for the same customer. ASI participates in the Progressive Home Insurance Group pool and shares that group's financial strength ratings from AM Best, S&P, and Moody's.
